Gurus of Green Take Over the HabiStore on October 16

Celebrate Green Living on Saturday, October 16th at the HabiStore at 3840 S. Palo Verde at Ajo from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the free Green Living Fair, held in partnership with the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey, visit over 25 gurus of green exhibitors who will share information, tips, and success stories on the many ways to go green and save greenbacks. Our homes and transportation choices have a significant environmental and economic impact. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, our homes account for 22% of the total energy consumed in our country and transporting goods and people accounts for 28% of total energy consumed.

Green Living Fair 2010

Local experts in home energy savings, recycling, resource conservation, gardening, landscaping, composting, green building/remodeling, alternative fuels and vehicles, bicycling, waste reduction, rainwater harvesting, solar power, and more will be at the Green Living Fair to help you live more sustainably and save money. Check out vehicles fueled by biodiesel, ethanol, compressed natural gas, electricity, and propane, to name a few. And don't forget to go inside the HabiStore to view (on TVs for sale) the Green Mini Film Fest featuring "Food, Inc.," "Power Shift," "The Ecological Footprint: Accounting for a Small Planet," and others. Did we mention the shopping? HabiStore offers great savings on items for painting, lighting, toilet/door/window replacement, not to mention sofas, tables and more - some new and others gently used! Keeps tons of items from our landfills every year.

Attendees are encouraged to bring donations (except clothing) to the HabiStore, and a couple of cans of food for the Community Food Bank. Free prizes will be presented every 30 minutes including a $100 certificate for the HabiStore. The Mrs. Green’s World show will broadcast live from the event using solar energy. We are striving for a Zero Waste Event, so bring your own water bottle for a free fill-up.

Haven’t been to the HabiStore? Donations fund the Habitat Tucson mission of eliminating poverty housing within our community. This Fair is a great way to be Green in One Stop! Bring your donations, stop by the booths to learn more, catch a thought-provoking documentary, and shop for those light fixtures and paint brushes (just to name a few items) at the HabiStore! For more information about the Fair and the HabiStore, call Terry Dee at 889-7200.

The Green Living Fair is presented by Pima County, the HabiStore, PAG Clean Cities, and Mrs. Green’s World. www.HabitatTucson.org
